Antigua Reina Roja de las Brujas is a 4.5” vintage Santa Muerte statue, personally sourced in Mexico by Ed Calderon and Eddie Dennis. This piece stands apart through its throne-seated form, heavy symbolism, and unmistakable age.
Cast in a deep ritual red, Santa Muerte is depicted enthroned, framed by an arched backrest adorned with bat figures at the crown—long associated with night, liminality, and witchcraft traditions. Her skeletal form is partially cloaked, revealing the ribcage beneath, emphasizing dominion over both flesh and spirit. At her feet rests a canine figure, symbolizing loyalty, guardianship, and the guide between worlds.
The statue shows clear signs of age and devotional use, including surface wear, paint loss, oxidation, and patina consistent with older Mexican devotional castings. The base reveals traditional construction materials and hand-finished imperfections that confirm it is not a modern reproduction.
This piece is well suited for altar placement, particularly for workings associated with protection, authority, justice, witchcraft, and sovereignty.
